Entry requirements

Admission to this programme is open to students who have completed one of the following:

  • A Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Economics or close equivalent;
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Economics, followed by a Graduate Certificate in Arts endorsed in Economics;
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Graduate Diploma of Arts in Economics.

Students must have achieved a B grade average over the 200 and 300-level courses in economics.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Economics) structure

The programme consists of 120 credits at 700-level as outlined below.  This qualification will be awarded with a class of honours.

Note: Not all courses are available in each semester


All requirements must be completed within one year for full-time study or within 3 years for part-time study. 


A) One course from the following (30 credits):
125.785 Research Methods in Finance
178.732 Advanced Econometrics

B) Compulsory course (30 credits):
178.799 Compulsory Research Project

C) 60 credits selected from courses listed in the programme schedule.
