Every food project and every client are different. It’s important that you have a clear understanding of your project needs from the start so that we can begin to help you.
Please follow the steps below, which are designed to make it easy for you to describe your project and get us started:
A product brief clearly describes your food product and its market positioning. This includes such things as what it is; who will buy it and why; where will it be sold; its key attributes (i.e. organic, vegan, preservative free, long shelf-life, tastes amazing); what packaging options have been considered and what your key messages about the product to the consumer will be. It should also include your budget for the project and ideal timings.

Note: If you are unable to complete this product brief template by yourself, we may be able to assist you to create one as the first step in our proposal. Please email us directly on firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss.
Within two weeks of receiving your project brief we will arrange a time to discuss it with you via phone or in person.
This is a free, no obligation discussion that will help us to tailor a proposal for your project. We will outline what we can offer and where possible give an indication of how long it is likely to take and a rough estimate of cost.
If you agree that FoodPilot is a good match for your needs, we will progress to developing a project proposal.
Your FoodPilot Project Proposal will include
After you receive the proposal there will be opportunity to discuss and refine it before a contract is drawn up.
Following verbal approval of the Proposal we will send you a contract to cover our work. Once you sign and pay the agreed deposit, we can begin work on your project.
This is where the exciting stuff happens. You are welcome to be involved as much or as little as you like in your food project. Some clients come to FoodPilot at Massey University’s Palmerston North campus and take part in key phases of the project, others prefer to be kept informed on progress via email or phone.
At the completion of your project you will receive a summary report and often some product samples, but this will depend on the specific nature of the project and what has been agreed in the proposal.
Once your project is complete we will ask you to complete a feedback survey about how you have found your FoodPilot experience. We greatly appreciate clients completing these surveys because they help us to improve our service delivery.
