My key research interests are in how farmers learn and make decisions. I am particularly interested in how farmers design and manage their production systems. I have also undertaken research into resilient farming systems and the management of risk. In recent years I have been involved in projects investigating farmer learning through a community of practice and other work using an innovation systems framework to consider innovation in the primary sector. My final area of work is in the area of farm management consultancy and the processes consultants use to diagnose and solve problems for farmer clients.
