To assist with your transition into university life, be sure to check out the ‘Online Library Workshops' and the ‘Semester Two; StudyUp Programme’. ‘StudyUp’ is an online series designed to help enhance writing and study skills. Boost your time management, strategic reading and assignment writing skills, and learn more about critical reasoning and expand your analytical abilities.

Sunday 7 July 


Halls check-in

Check into your hall of residence before being guided around your new home. Residential Assistants (RAs) will be your tour guides, and available to answer any questions you may have.

When: 9.00am to 2.00pm Where: Residential Services Office (RSO) 

Halls dinner

Come along and meet your residential assistants and new hall mates for Semester Two. Nobody wants to cook dinner after a long day of travelling and moving, so let us take care of that for you. Use this time to eat, relax and take some time for yourself.  Please note this dinner is only for new halls of residence students in Semester Two.

When: 5.00pm to 6.30pm   Where: ICC Lounge

International student registration and welcome

This is compulsory for all new international and PaCE students and your attendance will be recorded. Please make sure you bring your passport, visa and outstanding admission documents to the registration desk.

PaCE foundation programmes academic orientation

This is a compulsory attendance for all new PaCE students.

  • Certificate in Foundations Studies
  • Certificate of University Preparation
  • Certificate of Proficiency PACE
  • Foundation Certificate in Academic English
  • Foundation Certificate in Advanced Academic English

Mihi Whakatau

Traditional Māori welcome for students and their families to the campus and city. The Mihi Whakatau brings together hosts (tangata whenua) and visitors (manuhiri) in a welcoming environment of friendship and generosity. Refreshments provided.

Body Balance

Enjoy a free gym session taster with a Body Balance class. Body Balance is a holistic workout designed to bring your body into a state of harmony and balance.  Build strength and flexibility through a series of stretches and poses.

Palmy bus tour

The Massey Guides will show you the ‘ins and outs’ of Palmy, including local markets and the Esplanade. There will be a stop at our local mall – The Plaza - to purchase any necessities you may need (there is also a supermarket onsite). Please note: This is a first on the bus until full tour.

Rainbow tea

This is a great opportunity to meet members of, and learn more about, the LGBTIQ+ community at the University. Open to all Massey staff and students, this relaxed and welcoming event is also an opportunity to meet with representatives from relevant student and community groups.
