Join a practice that; helps stretch and strengthen bodies that sit at desks (open hips and shoulders); providers space for rest and replenishment; and offers an introduction to the practices and principles of Yoga.
These classes are aimed at the general university staff and student population, including beginners*.
*Unfortunately it may not be appropriate for those with significant injuries, health issues or women who are pregnant. Please contact David if you are interested, to discuss possible modifications and alterations.
The first two classes of each month return to the very basics of the practice. These are ideal for absolute beginners as often these classes are slower and less technical than others.
If you have done some yoga before, or are reasonably fit with a good level of body awareness, you are more than welcome to join the classes at any stage of the month.
Over the course of a calendar month, classes progressively become more physically and technically challenging, matching pace with participants abilities. The second to last class of the month is often the 'peak' class, where all the preparation work in the earlier parts of the month come together.
The last class of the month, participants are encouraged to make a request for a pose, meditation or pranayama that they would like included in the class. Everyone's contribution then co-create the final class of the month.
