IELTS is the world's most popular high stakes English language test. It is the test that opens doors to a world of academic and professional opportunity in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA and many other places around the world where English is a language in the workplace or the classroom. IELTS testing at Massey University is managed by IDP: IELTS Australia.
Both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training cover all four language skills, Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Massey University’s Centre for Professional and Continuing Education holds an intensive part-time IELTS Preparation Course for professionals who need to register in their profession in New Zealand and for migrants who require IELTS for immigration purposes. The course is also designed for international students who need to increase their IELTS score for entrance to New Zealand universities.
The courses are offered each month before the monthly IELTS tests at the Massey Auckland and Wellington campuses.
Preparation for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) covers practice and techniques for sitting the reading, writing, listening and speaking tests. Many IELTS students have found the training very useful in learning practical ideas for sitting the test.
Richard has been teaching English in both Japan and New Zealand for nearly 30 years and has taught a wide variety of students during this time. Richard is a certified IELTS tutor for Massey University in Auckland. Outside of work Richard enjoys cooking, travelling and riding his classic Japanese motorcycles. Richard says the most rewarding part of his job is seeing in a student's eyes when you have connected with them in the classroom and whatever language point you are teaching is understood and seeing a student express themselves in a new language.
Marianne has many years of experience teaching students in Europe and New Zealand. She currently teaches ESOL at Massey University to International student groups and is a certified tutor for IELTS. Outside of work, she enjoys playing the guitar, bass and drums with her friends in a band and exploring the countryside on her Honda VFR800 motorbike. Marianne says the best part of her job is helping people gain confidence to communicate in a new language and achieve their goals, this is very rewarding and a challenge that she continues to enjoy.
